Animation Direction and Production

This film introduces the visual identity and values of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026. It was directed and produced by one and a half animation studio based in Cyprus, working across documentary storytelling, cultural narratives and public communication.

Developed for the Press and Information Office of Cyprus, the film combines motion graphics, video footage and photographic material to present the Presidency’s identity through a concise visual sequence. The animation translates the structural language of the official logo into motion while framing the broader themes associated with Cyprus hosting the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

VISUAL IDENTITY AND COMMUNICATION CONTEXT

The official logo was designed by Marios Kouroufexis and draws inspiration from the geometric structure of Lefkara lace together with the symbolism of the Cyprus sun. The animation interprets these visual references through structured motion graphics and compositional transitions that echo the geometry of the identity.

Video footage and photographic material used in the film were selected from assets provided by the Press and Information Office of Cyprus and the Secretariat of the Presidency. Through the combination of graphic animation and curated imagery, the film introduces the Presidency’s visual language while supporting its broader communication objectives.

The project was commissioned by the Press and Information Office of Cyprus. Final approval was provided by the Secretariat of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026 and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.

ANIMATION AND MOTION GRAPHICS IN PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

Projects of this nature demonstrate how animation and motion graphics can support public communication when identity, tone and purpose are carefully aligned. In this case, animation provided a structured way to introduce the visual identity of the Cyprus Presidency while reinforcing the values associated with the Presidency’s role within the European Union. The film was received positively by public audiences and institutional partners, confirming the importance of a clear and considered visual approach. Respecting the integrity of the logo design and brand guidelines was central to the process, as was understanding the communication context in which the film would operate. When these elements are approached with care, animation can function not simply as presentation, but as a precise tool for institutional storytelling and identity building.
