Drone Safety Animated Video

The Press and Information Office (PIO) in Cyprus acts as the local Government's channel of communication with and delivering information to the public. 

Cyprus Civil Aviation Authoirity oversees the air transport industry in Cyprus. A dynamic industry which plays a crucial part within the local economy and gives access to consumers to the island.

PIO approached one and a half to create an animated video for Cyprus Civil Aviation to provide information to the public about drones safety, and the new regulations that would come in effect by the end of 2020.
They requested for the video to be cartoon character based, to be easily recognised and familiar to wide audiences. The characters created would also serve as mascots for their campaign. In addition, some of their website features had to be displayed.

The not so distant analogy of an airplane pilot with a drone operator was used, to relate the importance of air safety and regulations. As the script requested 2 main characters, we came up with 2 original designs that would satisfy the brief. One for the young adult operator and the other for the drone. The general designs and colour palette was focused on a more familiar realistic approach, albeit cartoony. 

We created an 80 second fun and playful animation, along with flyer and billboard designs.
